Thank you!!
Our Hudson Valley excursions were designed to introduce all the New York City food and beverage professionals who are dedicated to serving local and sustainable fare to the growers and makers in the lower Hudson Valley who provide these ingredients. Our experiences are now open to the general public!
Our first trip will bring us to the towns of Cold Spring and Beacon with tours of a farm and breweries. We will also hop across the Hudson River to visit an orchard and cidery before heading back to the city. This is an all day excursion that will start in the morning and have us returning to the city at about 6 or 7pm.
Cold Spring is the quintessential small town. Centered around a gently sloping lane of quaint shops and eateries, Cold Spring is the perfect antidote to the bustle of city living. It’s a famous antiquing enclave that has been drawing weekend crowds for decades. Surrounded by a small residential area, Cold Spring’s Main Street dips toward the Hudson while offering breathtaking views of the mighty Storm King Mountain on the river’s opposite coast. A terrace at the water’s edge features a gazebo and sweeping views of the majestic river coursing through the Hudson Highlands.
We’ll start things off with a 15-minute historical overview before giving you an hour or two to explore the small town on your own, armed with biographical information about many of the terrific businesses, new and old. We’ll then take a 10-minute ride to Glynwood Farm, where we will tour the grounds and learn about the nonprofit’s phenomenal programming, research and mission.

From Glynwood’s website:
Glynwood’s mission is to ensure the Hudson Valley is a region defined by food, where farming thrives.
Our vision is a Hudson Valley where farmers prosper, food entrepreneurs succeed, residents are nourished and visitors are inspired.
While our operations are based mostly in this region, we believe our values serve a larger social purpose.
Environmental Resilience & Conservation: Regenerative agriculture conserves landscapes, promotes biological diversity and mitigates climate change.
Human Health: Food grown and raised with best soil-building and husbandry practices is fundamental for human health.
Regional Prosperity: Food production can be a powerful driver of economic prosperity.
Social & Cultural Vibrancy: A regional food system fosters a strong sense of place, brings people together, and increases social capital for residents from a diversity of social and economic backgrounds.

Next, we will head to the nearby town of Beacon, whose Main Street, while quaint like Cold Spring’s, stretches farther — it is a thriving streetscape that brings local producers, long-time residents and an increasing population of New York City expats together under the nearby peak of Mount Beacon, creating a skyline effect that was enjoyed several millennia before Manhattan’s man-made monoliths.

We’ll start a visit to Industrial Arts Brewery before heading to the waterfront for a historic intro of Beacon and then enjoy some free time before gathering at Hudson Valley Brewery.
For the last stop, we’ll cross the river for a short drive to Walden, New York, where we will tour Angry Orchard Cidery and visit the orchard, cidery and tasting room.
